Online training
Our courses are designed for teaching/acquiring the knowledge required for animal experiment work according to EU recommendations and, in Germany, according to the ordinance on protection of laboratory animals (TierSchVersV). A course thus consists of several parts: a general part (Course 01 - general part) and relevant species-specific content (Courses 01.1 and following courses). The composition of the course may be adapted to country-specific requirements. The main focus at present is on the training required in Germany for people who conduct or plan and design animal experiments (TierSchVersV Annex 1 Section 3).
Against this background, “courses” are only open to participants whose institute/facility/course organizer have concluded a framework agreement with LAS interactive and then guarantees/provides practical training for participants.

When the booking form is requested, the module is activated for you and the exam is set up for you. The booking only becomes binding when we receive the completed and signed booking form (by fax/mail). Please make sure the billion address is complete and correct. If in doubt, check with your secretariat to ensure that the address is correct. If an invoice needs to be amended because of incorrect information, we shall charge a fee of €10.00 for this.
Exam
- The exam consists of 20 questions
- The duration of the exam is 40 minutes
- The passmark is 70%
- Every question equals 1 point
If a combination of different modules has been put together for you, the exam conditions announced to you separately are applicable.
The exam is activated within 3 working days of payment being received and is available for 14 days once it has been activated. During this period, you can take the examination at any time. We will in form you via e-mail about activation of your exam. You can all view all the data on the exams you have booked /taken, as well as the status of your booking, under "My las campus" in your user profile ("My modules | courses" or "My exams").
If an exam is not taken in the stipulated exam period without prior consultation with LAS interactive, this exam is regarded as not passed. Sollten Sie eine Verlängerung des Prüfungszeitraumes benötigen nehmen Sie bitte rechtzeitig vor Ablauf des Termins mit uns Kontakt auf.
If you do not pass the exam, you can repeat it once free of charge within the examination period. If you fail an exam also at the second attempt, you can book a further repeat exam. This repeat exam, incl. second failed attempt, costs 50% of the original course fee.

The certificate confirming that the exam has been passed will be sent as a PDF within 3 working days to the email address filed in the LAS interactive system. For certificates sent by post, € 3.00 will be charged for postage. Please indicate in the booking form if you wish to receive your certificates by post

C 01: German animal welfare legislation

The C 01 module covers national animal welfare legislation for Germany (EU Core Module 01). Topics include an introduction to EU animal welfare legislation, the German Animal Welfare Act and the associated rules of procedure, as well other areas of law.

C 01, F 09 – F 11: Basic principles for planning procedures
Content concerning German animal welfare legislation, ethics (level 1 and 2) and 3Rs and introduction to the design of procedures and projects.DE | EN | FR
This module complex summarizes relevant content on law (core module C 01) and ethics in animal experiments with introductory aspects of planning and design of animal experiment procedures (C02 and components from function-specific modules F 09 – F 11) for a unit that is capable of being tested.
It brings together content that stands apart from the actual work with the animal setting out the framework conditions for animal experiment work and laying the foundations for persons who plan and conduct animal experiments. It covers topics such as the German Animal Welfare Act and the associated rules of procedure, as well other areas of law, ethics of animal experiments in more depth, subject areas of the 3Rs, database search and planning of the research project, including calculation of the number of animals needed. The learning unit alone is not sufficient for qualification "EU - Function B" - designing procedures and projects.

C 03 - C 06: general
General content on the biology, husbandry, stress and humane killing of (laboratory) animals.DE | EN | FR
The study material for "C 03 - C 06: general" is the basis for the species-specific modules "C 03 - C 06: [species]". After successful completion of the first course of training on the general content and one species or species group, you may go on to broaden your knowledge by covering further species. In this case it is not necessary to repeat the general content, but only the species-specific content on the new species.
The learning unit brings together the basic content of EU core modules C 03 - C 06 into a single unit that can be tested. It teaches the basics for working with laboratory animals and covers topics such as housing systems, hygiene measures, breeding management, nutrition, assessments of stress on animals and the requirements of humane killing.
Cost: 140,00 €
The learning unit alone is not sufficient for the qualification according to Annex 1 No. 3 TierSchVersV ("EU Function A": people who conduct animal experiments)
