Online training
At las campus, you can pursue online courses and modules to acquire or brush up theoretical qualifications for working with laboratory animals.
Our courses are designed for teaching/acquiring the knowledge required for animal experiment work according to EU recommendations and, in Germany, according to the ordinance on protection of laboratory animals (TierSchVersV). A course thus consists of several parts: a general part (Course 01 - general part) and relevant species-specific content (Courses 01.1 and following courses). The composition of the course may be adapted to country-specific requirements. The main focus at present is on the training required in Germany for people who conduct or plan and design animal experiments (TierSchVersV Annex 1 Section 3).
Against this background, “courses” are only open to participants whose institute/facility/course organizer have concluded a framework agreement with LAS interactive and then guarantees/provides practical training for participants.
Information on participation in the course
"Course 01 – general part" is only open to participants whose institute / facility / course organizer has concluded a corresponding framework agreement with LAS interactive. You can view the relevant framework conditions in your user profile under “My LAS interactive”.
"Course 01 – general part" must be combined with a species-specific part (Course 01.1 and following courses).
The exam for proof of knowledge according to Annex 1 Section 3 TierSchVersV (people who collaborate on animal experiments) essentially consists of the content in Course 01 - general part and, where applicable, content on further species.
Participation in "Course 01 – general part" forms part of a comprehensive curriculum of training in animal experiment work, including a practical part at the relevant target institution.

Course 01 - general part, without surgery

"Course 01 – general part" teaches basic knowledge on working with laboratory animals in accordance with TierSchVersV. Course 01 must always be combined with a species-specific course and concluded with practical training.
The topics include basic information on
- German animal welfare legislation
- Ethics and the 3Rs
- Basics of planning experiments, incl. database searches
- Breeding and housing of laboratory animals
- Experimental methods
- Constraints on laboratory animals (German "Belastung")
- Killing of laboratory animals
- Anaesthesia
Information on participation in the course
"Course 01 – general part" is only open to participants whose institute / facility / course organizer has concluded a corresponding framework agreement with LAS interactive (vtk online). You can view the relevant framework conditions in your user profile under “My LAS interactive”.
"Course 01 – general part" can/must be combined with a species-specific part (Course 01.1 and following courses).
